Patriot Strategies Internship Program

The Patriot Strategies Internship Program is designed to offer individuals who are enthusiastic and interested in learning about the exciting profession of public relations the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on work experience while learning new skills that are critical for success in the PR field.

We will work with college students of all levels to arrange academic credit for their participation in the program.

In the Patriot Strategies Internship Program, individuals will receive:

Practical, Hands-on PR Experience

The Patriot Strategies program enables interns to gain invaluable, hands-on experience with the various aspects of PR including customer service, media relations, analyst relations, client management, planning, research, writing and competitive analyses. All program participants will have the opportunity to learn how to research and identify important media/analyst contacts; create media/analyst lists; write press releases; pitch reporters; interact with vendors and callers; participate in agency meetings and creative sessions; and assist Patriot Strategies team members to support agency efforts and activities.

Invaluable Project Management Training

Under the supervision of Patriot Strategies staff, interns will have the opportunity to create a PR campaign that will be their responsibility to develop and manage from beginning to end. This will involve developing a plan for the program; creating positioning, pitch abstracts and supporting materials; identifying the target audience(s); qualifying reporters; compiling a target media list; pitching and following up with the media targets; and creating a report to demonstrate the results garnered. This project will provide interns with a tangible way to highlight their experience and accomplishments while working at Patriot Strategies.

Constructive Feedback

Patriot Strategies will work with interns to set measurable goals and objectives at the beginning of the program. Throughout the internship, we will provide feedback and discuss progress. At the end of the program, a formal evaluation will be given to help assess the necessary steps for realizing career goals within the field.

The successful candidates will have:

  • Demonstrated interest in the field of
  • Education: current enrollment in a college degree program or recent graduate with PR,   communications or  relevant major          
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills to balance multiple projects and demands
  • Initiative and flexibility with enthusiasm
  • Self-starter and team player
  • Professional appearance and manner
  • Computer literate and Internet savvy
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; Adobe Acrobat
